Avneet Mangat



Avneet completed his Masters in Software Engineering from University of Oxford, UK. He has been working for the last 12 years in London (UK), NY, Toronto (Canada), Tampa (FL) and Austin(TX) as IT/software architect and Product development manager in various business domains - insurance, telecoms, publishing, manufacturing, tourism and retail.

He recruited other developers to initiate and lead a project to develop a popular open source database browsing tool which was the first database browsing tool to support complex text and binary large objects (CLOBS and BLOBS) and encrypted tunnels for browsing databases etc. This has been downloaded over 35,000 times.

He also authored several articles on various software technologies and wrote a chapter in an influential OReilly book on Java Power Tools (ISBN 0596527934)

He runs a popular and influential website on wildlife and conservation. His passion for wildlife, conservation and photography led him to create the first ever multi-touch interactive iBook related to wildlife for iPad. A printed version of this book is also out and available for sale.

He is co-author of the book 'Return of the Tiger' (ISBN 978-0-9880771-4-0) on conservation success stories from the Land of the Tiger on eco-tourism.
